Summer Fun Runs: Upcoming 5Ks
This glorious summer weather is a great excuse to get outside and get active in Chicagoland. Luckily, there are some great summer fun runs coming up that offer opportunities to do just that. So lace up your running shoes, and join our real estate agents at these upcoming races, walks, and runs in Chicagoland.
- St. Monica Summerfest 5K Run/Walk - 7100 W Carmen Ave, Chicago, IL 60656
St. Monica Summerfest returns on August 24 this year, and it brings a chance to participate in the annual Summerfest & 5K Run/Walk. Kicking off at 10 a.m., the 5K starts at St. Monica Academy on Nottingham Avenue. The race follows the streets of the Norwood Park neighborhood before circling back to the starting line. Participants receive a commemorative race shirt and other assorted goodies, including a beverage voucher. Now in its 13th year, Fort2Base is a monumental race that offers something for runners of all fitness levels. This year's event takes place on August 25 and includes three races. The 10-nautical-mile race begins at 7 am at the historic Fort Sheridan military base in the community of Fort Sheridan and follows the McClory Bike Path to North Chicago's Foss Park. The park also serves as the starting point of the 3-mile and 1-mile races, which begin at 7 am and 10 am, respectively. - 2024 Fast Track to a Cure 5k - 400 W Montrose Harbor Dr, Chicago, IL 60640
Another great opportunity to get a run in on August 25, the 2024 Fast Track to a Cure 5k, also supports a good cause. Proceeds from the run help raise funds for research into Oligodendroglioma, a type of brain cancer that currently has no cure. It starts at 8 am at Montrose Harbor-Grove 16, a beautiful lakefront park in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. The racecourse utilizes local roads around Montrose Beach, offering some beautiful views along the way. - 2024 Summer Sizzler - 3S580 Naperville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189
With the end of summer on the horizon, it's time for the annual Summer Sizzler in Chicago. The annual walk/run takes place on August 31 this year, and it includes a 5k, 10k, 15k, kids' dash, and 1-mile volunteer run within the picturesque Danada Forest Preserve in Wheaton. It's a fun family event with free ice cream waiting at the finish line! - Last Chance BQ.2 Marathon - 1925 S Batavia Ave, Geneva, IL 60134
If you aspire to run the Boston Marathon, be sure to mark your calendar for September 7. That's when the Last Chance BQ.2 Marathon takes place in Geneva. This Boston Marathon-qualifying race starts at Fabyan Forest Preserve and follows a flat multi-loop course along the scenic Fox River. You'll be joining a group of 300 of the best runners in the United States and Canada! - Naperville Trails Half Marathon & 10k - 3S580 Naperville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189
September 7 is also the date of the 15th annual Naperville Trails Half Marathon & 10k, which has become one of the most popular races in the Chicago area. Starting at 8 am, the half marathon and 10k both follow the crushed limestone paths that meander through the beautiful Danada Forest Preserve. It's a similar course to the Chicago Summer Sizzler, with shirts and finisher medals for all participants.
